Working the Sushi Counter at Osaka Bay Buffet
Kissimmee, FL | Photography by Buffet Authority
Behind the glass at Osaka Bay Buffet, sushi chefs prepare rolls in full view of the dining room, giving the buffet a working sushi counter rather than simply a display of finished trays. The restaurant opened in 2025 at 7598 W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway along Kissimmee’s heavily traveled U.S. 192 corridor, taking over a building that had long housed a Ponderosa Steakhouse.
The transformation is a fitting piece of Central Florida buffet history: a former American steak-and-buffet restaurant has become an international all-you-can-eat operation built around sushi, hibachi, seafood, dim sum, pho and other Asian and American offerings. The open preparation counter, glowing sushi sign and busy dining room make the change especially visible here—the old buffet building still serving the same basic purpose, but for a very different generation of abundance.
