A Speedboat Passes Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina | Photography by Buffet Authority
A speedboat cuts across Lake Broadway in front of Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen at Broadway at the Beach, adding a little motion to one of Myrtle Beach’s more unusual all-you-can-eat settings.
The restaurant occupies a prominent waterfront position in the sprawling entertainment complex, where shops, restaurants and attractions surround the 23-acre Lake Broadway. Upstairs, its 300-seat dining room looks out over the water - the same lake that provides the foreground here. Inside, the format is unlimited family-style dining: the table chooses its Southern entrées and sides, and serving dishes return with refills rather than sending diners back through a buffet line.
From across the lake, though, the restaurant becomes part of the larger Broadway at the Beach scene: the oversized red Paula Deen’s script, waterfront promenade, gathering crowds and, for one instant, a speedboat throwing a white wake across the frame.
