The Corridor at Old Barn

Lima, Ohio | Photography by Buffet Authority

Some of the most memorable spaces inside a restaurant are nowhere near the dining room. At Old Barn in Lima, the walk toward the restrooms passed through this unexpectedly striking corridor: textured walls, a polished dark floor, framed photographs and a procession of small chandeliers casting long, irregular shadows overhead.

There was something almost haunting about it, particularly when the hallway was empty. The warm chandelier light and deep shadows made an otherwise ordinary passage feel strangely theatrical, while the dark doors at the far end gave the corridor a sense of depth that seemed far removed from the busy buffet and dining rooms elsewhere in the building.

Old Barn had been part of Lima since 1979, operating for 46 years before the longtime restaurant closed in November 2025. The building has since begun another chapter as Old Barn Indian Restaurant & Bar. The cuisine has changed dramatically, but the buffet tradition continues, making this quiet hallway a small surviving piece of a restaurant space that has already lived more than one life.
