The free veterans-and-service-members buffet returns, with DAV fundraising extended through November 29.

Golden Corral’s annual Veterans Day tradition returns on Wednesday, November 11, with a complimentary buffet and beverage for eligible military guests from 4 p.m. until closing. It is the chain’s 26th Military Appreciation Night, a long-running evening built around a straightforward idea: set out the buffet and pick up the check for the people being honored.

According to Golden Corral’s November 2 announcement, the offer applies to current U.S. service members, retired military personnel and veterans at participating restaurants nationwide. The meal is dine-in only, and no military identification is required. The complimentary meal does not extend to spouses, other family members or friends.

The familiar Golden Corral spread is part of the offer, rather than a reduced menu reserved for the occasion. The chain describes more than 150 selections across its buffet, including grilled-to-order steak, fried chicken, pot roast, meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, salads, sides, desserts and fresh yeast rolls. Exact dishes vary by restaurant, but the premise is the same one buffet regulars already know: build the plate you want, then return if something else catches your eye.

More than one night of support

The tradition began in 2001. Golden Corral says nearly 180,000 complimentary meals were served during the 2025 event, when restaurants also raised nearly $1 million for local chapters of DAV, or Disabled American Veterans. Across the program’s history, the chain reports almost 6.9 million free meals and more than $21.5 million raised for DAV chapters.

The new element for 2026 is an extended fundraising window. Guests can round up their checks or donate through local DAV chapters, and that campaign will continue through Sunday, November 29, rather than ending with Veterans Day. DAV uses contributions to support free services for veterans, their families, caregivers and survivors.

Golden Corral has also enlisted retired U.S. Navy SEAL and veterans advocate Marcus Luttrell as a spokesman for this year’s Military Appreciation Night. The company describes it as his first year in that role. Its other military-connected efforts, including Camp Corral, are separate programs and should not be folded into the Military Appreciation Night totals.

Participating restaurants may have different closing times, so guests should check their local Golden Corral before heading over. The common starting time is 4 p.m. on November 11. For one night, the question of whether to go back for the yeast rolls can be answered in the usual way—yes, if there is room.
