UMI Hotpot Sushi & Seafood Buffet has opened in Lake Ronkonkoma, New York, giving the former Crystal Garden a new buffet name and a menu that combines sushi, seafood and hot pot.
The restaurant announced a September 2 debut at 278 Portion Road. Its Lake Ronkonkoma page now lists the location as open.
The opening announcement set out an ambitious spread. Long Island Wave reported that the company promoted oysters, lobster, snow crab, king crab and grilled lamb chops among the offerings. Those seafood and meat choices join the sushi-and-hot-pot combination that defines UMI’s broader buffet concept.
UMI moves east from Queens
Crystal Garden had served Chinese and Cantonese food at the address, so the new restaurant arrives in a space already familiar to local buffet diners. UMI adds table hot pot to the prepared food and sushi, bringing another part of the meal into the dining room.
This is the national brand’s first location in the Nassau and Suffolk market. UMI already has a Queens Village restaurant, making Lake Ronkonkoma an eastward expansion of its New York presence. Its network also includes restaurants in states such as Florida and Delaware.
The Portion Road location posts hours of 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m.–10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. For the current seafood selection or group arrangements, the restaurant lists 631-888-3909.
