Sushi Boss in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, has a new name: Sushi Stars. The restaurant at 2135 Route 38, Suite C, is continuing its made-to-order all-you-can-eat sushi and hibachi operation under the same ownership.
The restaurant confirms the change on its official website. South Jersey Food Scene’s September 16 report adds that management, staff, menu and prices carried over with the new name. Regulars can learn the new name without having to relearn dinner.
Sushi Stars occupies an end unit near PetSmart in Hillview Shopping Center, across from Cherry Hill Mall. It opened as Sushi Boss with a July 9, 2025, soft opening, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer, followed by a planned August 1 grand opening.
Early coverage established the restaurant’s approach: guests order from the menu, receive dishes prepared for their table and order again. The selection reaches beyond rolls into hibachi, fried rice, noodles, soups, salads and cooked appetizers, giving a mixed table plenty of ways to work through dinner.
A firsthand August 2025 visit by 42Freeway documented chicken hibachi with mixed vegetables and a choice of rice or noodles, along with tempura chicken and sushi. Its report also noted that selected premium dishes carried an extra charge, including filet mignon hibachi. The original adult pricing was $16.99 for weekday lunch and $25.99 for dinner and all-day weekends.
South Jersey Food Scene also reported that Sushi Stars would continue participating in its Frequent Diner program, offering cardholders a 20% discount. The restaurant’s existing connection to that local dining group carried through the rename.
The broader menu still includes gyoza, shrimp shumai, pepper tuna and yellowtail jalapeño. Bubble tea, fruit drinks, smoothies and Japanese sodas remain part of the offering as well. Selected premium dishes and drinks have their own prices, so the dine-in menu remains the guide to what is included.
For anyone searching for Sushi Boss and wondering where it went, the answer is the same Route 38 dining room. Sushi Stars is the name to look for now, with the familiar order-and-reorder dinner continuing behind it.
