Sura Hawaii has announced an October 13 reopening at 5 p.m. in Honolulu, Hawaii, introducing a refreshed 22-choice all-you-can-eat menu and a $30 adult promotion for parties of two or more. The restaurant calls this version “Sura 2.0,” with homemade sauces and kitchen dishes joining the tabletop grilling.
The October offer runs through October 31 at 1726 Kapiolani Boulevard, Suite 101. Sura lists its regular adult rate for parties of at least two as $34.50. Dining alone costs $34.50 during the promotion, compared with a stated regular solo rate of $37.50.
Children ages 4–8 are listed at $18.50, and prices exclude tax and gratuity. Parties of six or more carry an automatic 18% gratuity.
Brisket, belly and a separate soup allowance
The restaurant’s updated menu divides its 22 numbered selections between meats and kitchen dishes. The grill side includes USDA Prime brisket, prime brisket bulgogi, marinated kalbi and chuck-eye steak, along with thick-cut and thin-sliced pork belly, spicy pork and pork shoulder steak.
Chicken comes in BBQ, plain thigh-steak and spicy-thigh versions, with shell-on shrimp completing the 12 meat and seafood choices. Pork belly gets two cuts, which is the kind of menu distinction some of us are perfectly willing to discuss at length.
The kitchen selection includes fried chicken, roasted garlic and six hot-stone rice dishes: vegetable bibimbap, spicy pork, bulgogi, BBQ chicken, spicy chicken and garlic shrimp rice. Seaweed soup and Korean miso soup also appear among the numbered choices, but the menu specifies one included soup bowl per guest.
Sura allows up to three meats and three kitchen dishes per ordering round. The included soup is separate from those three kitchen choices. A self-serve station supplies kimchi, pickles, edamame, salad, lettuce, sauces, rice and water.
The operator also emphasizes food and sauces made in its own kitchen, which it says use no MSG or added sugar. Alongside the fresh meat selections, those preparations are part of how Sura is introducing the reopening.
A Honolulu address with fourteen years of history
Sura dates its beginnings to October 15, 2012, when it opened as 678 Hawaii. Its official history says it was originally affiliated with the 678 chain from South Korea and changed its name to Sura Hawaii on July 4, 2016.
The announced reopening falls just before that fourteenth anniversary. Sura has not publicly explained the length or reason for the latest closure, but its current announcement establishes the return date and menu.
The posted hours preserve plenty of room for a late dinner: Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday, 5 p.m.–2 a.m.; Friday and Saturday, 5 p.m.–4 a.m. Monday is closed. Alcohol service ends by 2 a.m., including the later dining nights. On Fridays and Saturdays, the grill gets the final two hours.
