Sumo Sushi & Grill in Kirkland, WA, has changed the way dinner is ordered. The restaurant at 12207 Northeast 116th Street now advertises all-you-can-eat dining, replacing the individually priced small-plate format described by early guests.
Its ordering storefront identifies the restaurant as Sumo Sushi & Grill AYCE, and the brand’s Kirkland page places it within the Sumo all-you-can-eat operation.
A different meal in the former Shari’s
The restaurant occupies the former Shari’s building near Interstate 405. In a Kirkland community discussion, early visitors described paying for small plates individually, with an additional appetizer and dessert buffet.
Later comments reported the switch to AYCE. The current restaurant listings support that change, though an exact conversion date has not been established.
Sushi with room for cooked dishes
Sumo’s broader concept spans made-to-order sushi, sashimi, hand rolls and grilled dishes. Its online menu puts pork gyoza, chicken karaage and shrimp tempura alongside ramen and udon, leaving plenty of room for a cooked-food round between sushi orders.
Hand rolls on the brand’s menu include shrimp tempura and beef sukiyaki, while its regular rolls range from salmon and tuna to avocado and fried California rolls.
Those selections describe the brand-wide menu, which varies by location. Kirkland diners should check the restaurant’s own selection and house rules before ordering.
