Sora Seafood and Sushi Buffet is planned for Marketplace Shrewsbury in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, adding another buffet name to the Route 9 shopping center. Developer Sam Adams confirmed the project to Patch in August, and current landlord leasing material continues to list Sora as opening soon.
The developer’s announcement also included Hungry Pot Korean BBQ & Hot Pot, Tandoori Pizza and GEICO. Sora and Hungry Pot are separate incoming restaurants; the former Hooters space was identified for Hungry Pot. A precise Sora suite and opening date have not been announced.
Sora already operates in Natick’s Sherwood Plaza at 1282 Worcester Street. That restaurant provides a useful preview of the concept: a sushi and sashimi bar, seafood, hibachi, hot dishes and desserts.
The Natick restaurant’s official site describes nigiri and more than 20 signature rolls, along with snow crab legs, oysters, shrimp, mussels and grilled scallops. Its broader buffet includes dishes such as beef with broccoli and pork-and-vegetable gyoza, and the site advertises eight stations and more than 50 chef-crafted dishes.
Those descriptions belong to the operating Natick restaurant. Shrewsbury’s exact selection has not been released, and neither have its prices. For reference, Natick currently advertises $26.99 weekday lunch and $43.99 dinner and all-day weekends.
Natick also includes bubble tea, fruit tea, mango pomelo sago and soft drinks for dine-in customers. That is a useful bit of buffet arithmetic, although Sora has not confirmed the same arrangement for Shrewsbury.
The brand’s Natick history is relatively short. It moved into the former Minado restaurant, following that Japanese buffet’s September 2024 closure. Natick Report documented Sora’s plan to open April 21, 2025, returning sushi-and-seafood buffet service to the Sherwood Plaza space.
At Marketplace Shrewsbury, Sora would join a development that already lists Imperial Buffet among its tenants. The available announcements do not say Sora is replacing Imperial or shares its ownership.
