Reunion BBQ is officially stepping into the all-you-can-eat business.
The Boston South End restaurant has launched The Sunday Reunion, a recurring Sunday barbecue-and-brunch program priced at $29 for two hours of unlimited food. Service runs from noon to 4 p.m., and Reunion’s own event page says the format repeats every Sunday.
That distinction matters. This is not a one-day football special or a holiday brunch that happens to contain a lot of brisket. Reunion is adding a continuing AYCE service to a restaurant that already had a regular weekend brunch identity.
Barbecue Meets Brunch, Repeatedly
The advertised Sunday lineup rotates, but Reunion says diners may encounter barbecue chicken, pulled pork, brisket and smoked sausage alongside bacon, scrambled eggs and French toast. Sides may include breakfast potatoes, mac and cheese, collard greens, potato salad, farmhouse salad, fruit and cornbread, with banana pudding among the dessert possibilities.
The $29 price covers the food. Drinks, tax, gratuity and premium upgrades are separate, and the restaurant is also selling mimosa towers. Reservations are structured around the two-hour dining window, while a live DJ supplies R&B, Afrobeat, soulful house, Motown and other Sunday-afternoon music.
Reunion already serves a conventional brunch menu on weekends, with dishes such as chicken and waffles, huevos rancheros, biscuits and gravy, omelets, pancakes and breakfast plates. The Sunday Reunion therefore represents a format change rather than the restaurant simply discovering eggs at noon.
A Boston-Style Barbecue Restaurant Adds an Abundance Format
Reunion opened at 439 Tremont Street in 2022, taking over the former Masa space in the South End. From the beginning, the restaurant has tried to distinguish itself from regional barbecue imitation. Reunion describes its approach as “Boston-style BBQ”, using local or New England touches in dishes such as beer-brisket, maple-mustard pork and smoked lobster tail rather than presenting itself as a transplanted Texas, Memphis or Kansas City operation.
That makes the new Sunday program a fairly natural extension: smoked meat was already the center of the restaurant, brunch already existed, and AYCE turns the two into a more social weekly event. The event calendar currently shows the Sept. 27 service and additional Sunday editions, supporting the restaurant’s description of the program as ongoing.
Buffet Authority did not locate an earlier version of The Sunday Reunion in the restaurant’s public programming, so Sept. 27 appears to mark the new AYCE launch. Whether the exact $29 price and rotating lineup stay fixed over time remains to be seen. For now, Boston has another recurring all-you-can-eat option – and this one arrives carrying brisket rather than a carving-station heat lamp.
