Nami Sushi is bringing all-you-can-eat sushi to Brook Highland, Alabama, with plans to occupy the former Beef O’Brady’s at 5279 US 280. The sports-bar address is acquiring a rather different reason to order another round.
Bham Now’s October 7 report identifies the incoming business as an AYCE sushi restaurant with an Asian kitchen menu. No opening date has been announced, and the report does not supply prices or a menu. The combination is the development to watch; particular rolls and kitchen dishes have yet to make their public entrance.
The location is in Brook Highland Plaza, in the same shopping complex as Burlington, Shoe Station, Michaels and the ABC Beverage store. It has been vacant since Beef O’Brady’s abruptly closed on March 30.
That departure followed an unsuccessful effort to reach a new agreement with the building’s landlord. According to Bham Now’s reporting at the time, the restaurant announced its closure at 10 a.m., just an hour before it would normally have opened. By the following morning, the signage was down and equipment was being loaded into a U-Haul trailer.
The Brook Highland Beef O’Brady’s opened in September 2021, according to 280 Living’s retrospective on the closure. Its run ended roughly four and a half years later. Other Birmingham-area locations in Hoover and Helena remained in operation, and staff were offered positions at those restaurants, Bham Now reported.
Before Beef O’Brady’s, the address housed The Boot at Brook Highland, whose historical listings place it at the same US 280 location. Nami’s arrival would give this succession of pub and sports-bar concepts a sushi chapter.
For AYCE diners, the next useful details will be the opening schedule, pricing and how the sushi and Asian kitchen offerings fit together. Nami has established the name and location; the menu will show what this former sports-bar address becomes.
