Meze Kebab in downtown Palo Alto has made room for the quick kebab lunch as well as the full evening feast. The restaurant has added à-la-carte plates, wraps and meat portions while keeping its all-you-can-eat dinner.
The owners say Meze began as an AYCE kebab concept and quickly broadened the menu. Its individual dishes are now available for dine-in, takeout, delivery and catering; the unlimited meal remains an evening offering.
At 632 Emerson Street, Meze comes from the team behind neighboring Meyhouse Restaurant & Jazz Club. It soft-opened January 10 in the former Tacolicious space, according to The Almanac.
Mezes first, then the grill
The cooking follows a wide kebab trail, which the restaurant describes as stretching from Istanbul to Delhi. The Almanac’s launch review found lamb, garlic-and-herb shrimp and paneer tikka among the choices, a lineup with plenty of room for Mediterranean and South Asian flavors.
The unlimited dinner brings cold and hot mezes, grilled specialties and main dishes from the kitchen to the table, with additional orders as the meal goes along.
Meze’s website currently lists that dinner at $50 per adult and $20 for children, with 90 minutes at the table. Drinks are extra. The restaurant also charges by the plate for uneaten food and says the proceeds go to environmental causes.
For diners who want a smaller meal, the new plates and wraps are available at lunch and dinner. Meze opens Tuesday through Sunday, serving lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. and starting dinner at 5 p.m. The kebab feast is still there; now a lunch stop can be, too.
