Imperial Buffet in Berlin, Connecticut, was reported closed in June, with its former Brickyard Plaza dining room being marketed for lease. A closed sign across the entrance and a suspended tax-permit notice outside marked the change at 273 Berlin Turnpike, where the buffet had occupied more than 8,000 square feet.
The Connecticut Scoop’s June 25 report described the closure as appearing permanent, without citing a formal statement from Imperial.
The exterior notice read “Suspended Sales & Tax Permit,” according to the outlet. The report gave no exact final service date or reason for closing; it also did not explain the suspension or establish an unpaid balance.
The former buffet space
At the time of the June report, landlord WHLR was marketing more than 8,000 square feet, according to Connecticut Scoop. An earlier WHLR property flyer, dated November 27, 2024, puts a precise figure on the restaurant space: 8,045 square feet in Suite 4, with Imperial Buffet named in the tenant schedule.
The flyer uses Brickyard Plaza’s 225 Wilbur Cross Highway address, while the restaurant was reported at 273 Berlin Turnpike. The tenant schedule connects the two addresses to the same shopping-center property and identifies which room Imperial occupied.
No successor was named in the June account, and the space’s current leasing status remains unconfirmed.
