Golden Corral’s new restaurant in Kissimmee, Florida, is still taking shape, with construction continuing at 7602 West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway. The ground-up project puts another future buffet on a corridor that has long understood the appeal of a substantial dinner after a substantial theme-park day.
Venture Construction Company has publicly reported progress on the Kissimmee build, describing its crew’s work “from the foundation up.” A public construction bid listing identifies the address as a new-build project. Golden Corral also named Kissimmee as one of two restaurants already under construction in its April development announcement.
The project has been a long time coming. What Now Orlando reported plans for the address in June 2022 after speaking with franchisee Eric Holm. A Sizzler previously occupied the site. The construction plan received another concrete milestone when bidding closed in March 2025.
An opening date remains unannounced. For now, the progress report concerns an actual building moving toward buffet service, with the yeast rolls still waiting for their cue.
More ways to build a buffet
Kissimmee forms part of a broader development effort that Golden Corral described in April and again in June. In those announcements, the company reported six restaurants in development, including two under construction, alongside investments in existing restaurant remodels.
The chain’s June growth roadmap lays out a wider choice of building formats: ground-up restaurants, conversions of restaurant and retail space, travel-center opportunities and smaller-footprint prototypes. The purpose, the company says, is to adapt to local sites and development costs while preserving the buffet experience.
Florida supplies another example. Plans for St. Petersburg put a Golden Corral into the former Hooters at Tyrone Square, a conversion the Wire covered October 10. Kissimmee is taking the ground-up route. Both fit the company’s effort to make future restaurants work with the property available.
That investment is continuing through a year in which some older restaurants have closed, including the Eustis, Florida, location. Golden Corral’s plans encompass new restaurants and renovations to existing ones, with Kissimmee providing a tangible example of the construction effort.
Fall additions and the app in your pocket
At operating restaurants, the current buffet promotion brings back Bone-In Buffalo Wings alongside new Boneless Buffalo Bites for lunch and dinner. Both launched September 14, along with Green Apple Lemonade and Green Apple Citrus Splash. The current specials page lists the wings as limited-time additions, giving regulars another reason to reconsider their usual plate allocation.
The app also carries offers beyond the dining room. Through October 18, customers can order 25 bone-in Buffalo wings or 50 boneless Buffalo bites for $25 through Golden Corral’s own app or website. Those quantities are takeout deals. Rewards members can also get $10 off Holiday Meals To Go ordered through the app October 5–November 1, with pickup beginning November 2.
Golden Corral Rewards awards one point per dollar, with 100 points redeemable for $10 off. The consumer app sits alongside a larger technology investment: the chain completed a seven-month rollout of Qu’s restaurant platform during 2024, connecting point-of-sale, online ordering and kitchen systems, according to the technology provider.
Those systems give operators centralized menu tools and local pricing flexibility, while diners see ordering and rewards on their phones. The investment predates this construction update, but it is part of the infrastructure supporting Golden Corral’s next restaurants.
Kissimmee’s opening date is still the next major detail to watch. In the meantime, the chain has construction underway, more flexible plans for future locations and a seasonal buffet menu giving the existing dining rooms something fresh to serve.
