EXPERIENCE
Super Sushi is a small Japanese restaurant on West Tropicana Avenue in Spring Valley, serving made-to-order all-you-can-eat sushi alongside an à la carte menu. The setting is a neighborhood shopping plaza west of the Strip. Inside, the meal revolves around the sushi counter and the next order, with rolls, individual pieces and cooked dishes arriving at the table throughout the visit.
The dining room is compact and casually decorated. Pendant lights hang above dark tables, a long upholstered bench follows one wall, and framed pictures and hanging Japanese banners fill the space around them. The sushi bar gives the room a clear focal point. Seating stays close to the preparation area, so the restaurant feels like a small dining room with an active counter attached.
Unlimited dining works through ordering rather than trips to a serving line. You choose from the applicable AYCE selection, eat what arrives and order again. Nigiri can make up much of the meal, while larger specialty rolls and hot appetizers add fuller plates. The difference is practical: a few individual pieces leave room to try another fish, whereas several rolls can occupy the table and much of an appetite at once.
The restaurant serves lunch and dinner, with a broad enough menu to support different kinds of meals. One visit might concentrate on salmon, yellowtail and albacore; another might include tempura, baked mussels and sauced rolls. À la carte service also gives Super Sushi an everyday restaurant role beyond unlimited dining. Its appeal is straightforward: a modest room, sushi prepared to order and plenty of choice within reach of the table.
FOOD
Sushi is the main reason to eat at Super Sushi, particularly the selection of nigiri and the range of rolls. The restaurant serves AYCE alongside a larger à la carte menu, with the selected AYCE menu determining which specialty dishes are included. Plain fish over rice, rolls with raw seafood, fried rolls and cooked appetizers provide several ways to build a meal.
Salmon and yellowtail are useful starting points for the nigiri selection. Tuna and albacore broaden the choice, while octopus and mackerel bring different textures and flavors to the plate. Shrimp, eel and tamago, the Japanese omelette, offer cooked alternatives. These individual pieces make it possible to concentrate on the fish without filling every order with the sauces and toppings of a specialty roll.
Classic rolls offer similarly direct choices. Tuna, salmon and yellowtail rolls keep the filling simple, while spicy tuna and spicy yellowtail add heat. The Philly roll combines smoked salmon, avocado and cream cheese. Eel with avocado gives the cooked selection another familiar option. Cut rolls and hand rolls appear across much of this part of the menu, allowing the same basic ingredients to arrive in different forms.
The specialty rolls are more heavily assembled. The Rainbow Roll places assorted seafood and avocado over a filling of crab, cucumber and avocado. Sexy Baby combines spicy tuna and cucumber with salmon, lemon, green onion and spicy garlic sauce. That combination gives the roll a more pronounced citrus and garlic character than the plain salmon choices. Several rolls use fresh fish as a topping over a fuller interior.
Fried rolls make a substantial part of the broader selection. Golden Spicy Tuna pairs a deep-fried roll with spicy mayo and eel sauce. Golden Tiger includes shrimp tempura, avocado and cream cheese, then adds spicy crab and crunchy toppings. These are fuller, more layered preparations, with fried coatings and sauces contributing as much to the dish as the seafood. A single roll can be a sizable order.
Cooked appetizers allow the meal to move beyond rolls. Baked green mussels bring shellfish to the table, while shrimp and vegetable tempura provide separate pieces to eat between sushi orders. Gyoza, fried cheesy wontons and mini crab buns add small hot dishes. Edamame offers a simpler choice, available with salt, garlic or spice, and seaweed salad gives the table a cool accompaniment to the warmer preparations.
Sashimi is another part of the restaurant’s larger menu, with salmon, tuna and yellowtail served without rice. Specialty preparations include yellowtail with jalapeños and seared albacore with jalapeños and ponzu. These dishes suit a meal that puts more attention on sliced fish and its seasoning. Their inclusion depends on the applicable AYCE selection; they are also available through the restaurant’s separate à la carte service.
Mochi ice cream makes a compact finish, with mango, green tea and chocolate flavors among the choices. The soft rice dough encloses a cold ice cream center, giving dessert a different texture from the sushi meal. Ordinary ice cream and cheesecake complete the small dessert selection. The strongest food identity remains clear throughout: individual sushi pieces and rolls, supported by hot appetizers and a few sweets.
