EXPERIENCE

Sidelines Sports Grill has been feeding St. Cloud since 2006, with a locally family-owned, full-service approach and a welcome for all ages. Its appeal is easy to recognize: dinner, sports and something to do with your friends, all under one roof. A grand occasion is entirely optional. So is any useful knowledge of the game on television.

The dining and bar area has blue walls, wood paneling and screens throughout. A separate pool room, with green-felt tables beneath hanging lamps, makes the restaurant’s other enthusiasm quite clear. Those two spaces help explain its broad following: families can come for a meal, while pool players have a reason to make an evening of it. The friend whose sporting contribution is ordering dinner should fit in nicely.

Monday and Wednesday bring the unlimited wing dinners, alongside scheduled pool and poker programming. That puts wing night in the middle of the restaurant’s social life, rather than making it a solitary eating challenge. Come with someone whose conversation you enjoy. There is plenty here to keep an evening occupied without appointing every wing a personal milestone.

This is the neighborhood sports-grill version of all-you-can-eat: a focused dinner in a place already built for company. The distinction between the two wing nights gives regulars a useful choice, too. Some dinner loyalties run deeper than team loyalties. Bones can be a surprisingly serious subject.

FOOD

Sidelines keeps its unlimited dinner focused on wings. Monday’s Wing Madness offers all-you-can-eat bone-in wings; Wednesday’s No Bones About It offers all-you-can-eat boneless wings. Both are dine-in specials beginning at 6pm. Pick the night that suits your preference, settle in, and make wings the main event.

Monday has the appeal of the traditional bone-in wing: a handheld dinner for people who consider working around the bones part of the pleasure. Wednesday removes that little negotiation. Boneless devotees get their own unlimited evening, with a name that has already done the obvious joke for us. How considerate.

The two nights give different wing loyalties equal billing. That is a useful arrangement for a group that agrees on dinner but has strong opinions about its form. A wing meal needn’t have a sprawling cast of dishes to earn its place on the calendar. Sometimes the appetite is quite specific, and another helping of the thing you came for is exactly the point.
