EXPERIENCE

Green Chili Indian Restaurant is a sit-down Indian restaurant on Lyons Road, with a recurring lunch buffet and an individually ordered dinner menu. The address already had an Indian restaurant history as Curry & Grill before taking the Green Chili name in February 2025. Its setting is a neighborhood shopping center, but the building gives this everyday dining address an unusually grand introduction.

A tall cream-colored gable rises above the entrance, with a broad arched window set high over the glass doors. Red brick anchors the lower frontage, and the restaurant’s sign sits beneath that large arch. The proportions make it easy to recognize from the shopping-center approach: an Indian restaurant with a little more architectural flourish than a simple storefront sign.

The room carries that slightly dressed-up character indoors. Warm golden-orange walls surround tables covered in white cloths with red overlays, while a sparkling chandelier adds a more formal touch above the dining space. Booths and individual tables share the dining area. The effect is colorful and welcoming, with enough ceremony in the table settings to make lunch feel like a restaurant outing.

The buffet is the daytime occasion here, gathering chicken curries, vegetarian cooking, rice, bread and Indian desserts into a changing lunch selection. Goat curry sometimes joins the spread. The broader menu continues into separately ordered meals, including Indian street-food dishes and a substantial vegetarian selection. That range gives Green Chili a life beyond the buffet, while lunch remains the regular AYCE reason to visit the Lyons Road dining room.

Butter chicken and chicken tikka masala are two of the buffet’s recurring chicken choices. In Green Chili’s kitchen, butter chicken uses boneless chicken with tomato, butter and cream. Tikka masala puts broiled chicken into a creamy tomato sauce with ginger and garlic. The rotating lunch spread determines which preparations are available on the day.

Goat curry can also join the buffet. The kitchen’s version uses bone-in goat with ginger, garlic, onion and tomato gravy. It gives the lunch selection a different center from the creamy chicken dishes, and is worth looking for when you arrive. Meat and vegetarian dishes share the buffet, with the exact assortment changing.

Bread and rice belong alongside the curries. Roti accompanies the restaurant’s cooking, and naan is another part of the kitchen’s bread repertoire. The tandoor-baked bread is particularly useful with the gravy from a bone-in curry. The buffet has its own daily selection; a separately listed bread is not automatically an included lunch choice.

Gulab jamun and rice pudding are the buffet desserts to look for. Green Chili’s gulab jamun is milk-based and soaked in syrup. Its rice pudding uses milk and cardamom, with almond and pistachio in the recipe. Ask about nuts and dairy when checking ingredients; the day’s selection can change.
