EXPERIENCE

GG Korean BBQ puts the cooking within arm’s reach. On West Colonial Drive in Orlando’s Pine Hills area, this all-you-can-eat restaurant turns lunch and dinner into a shared tabletop project. A rectangular grill sits in the center of the table, with Korean side dishes gathered around it. Somebody claims the tongs, and everybody gets an opinion on when to turn the meat. The participation is part of the pleasure.

A carved wooden eagle with outstretched wings stands inside a timber railing, giving the dining room a distinctive greeting. Wood booth partitions divide the large space into smaller gathering places around the grills. GG advertises more than 200 seats and five private rooms, accommodating celebrations as well as smaller meals. The booths give each group a place to gather its plates and share the little dishes that accompany the barbecue.

The tabletop setup keeps the cooking and accompaniments close together, with a stainless-steel grill surround and table call buttons for requesting staff attention. Help with grilling is available, while guests take part in preparing their own meal. GG also advertises open-flame grilling and a charcoal option; check the arrangements if charcoal is part of the occasion you have in mind.

Two AYCE tiers give the meal different possibilities. Base includes familiar beef, pork and chicken choices along with substantial prepared Korean accompaniments; Premium adds specialty cuts and seafood, with limits on selected items. À la carte ordering is available separately. The attraction is a meal people cook and share together, whether that means a celebration in a private room or a booth with a few friends and several opinions about the grill.

FOOD

GG Korean BBQ’s Base AYCE meal includes bulgogi, brisket, beef belly and pork for the tabletop grill, with prepared Korean dishes alongside. Corn cheese and japchae deserve attention in their own right, rather than getting squeezed into whatever space the meat leaves behind. Premium is a separate tier with additional cuts and seafood. Selections can vary, and limits apply to selected premium items; upgrading doesn’t make every item unrestricted.

Bulgogi brings sweet-savory marinated beef to the Base selection. Brisket and beef belly offer other beef choices, while pork shoulder and chicken breast provide alternatives for the shared cooking. Pork comes in fresh, marinated and spicy preparations, with both regular and thin-sliced pork belly available. Those options let a table compare preparations as well as proteins, without relying on the higher tier for variety.

Pork belly also gives the lettuce accompaniments a useful purpose. Lettuce, garlic, green pepper and ssamjang can surround or accompany cooked meat, with white rice available beside a wrapped bite. Mushrooms can join the grill too. A little lettuce has a perfectly persuasive place at a barbecue table when it holds a piece of pork.

The included hot appetizers make this a fuller Korean meal around the grill. Japchae consists of translucent sweet-potato-starch noodles seasoned with sesame oil, ready to share while another batch of meat cooks. A broad kimchi pancake comes on a metal plate for passing around the table. Steamed egg and soybean soup offer two further prepared choices. You can take an interest in the kitchen’s dishes as well as the cooking happening between your plates.

Corn cheese merits a pause of its own. Corn and mozzarella heat together in a small metal dish beside the grill. Another helping of beef can wait a moment. The handled oval pan keeps this prepared accompaniment close to the barbecue, with the cheese melting around the corn. It is included among the Base accompaniments and remains part of the Premium meal too, giving both tiers this particularly appealing dish to share.

Small steel bowls of banchan bring kimchi, bean sprouts, broccoli, tomato and white or yellow radish into the spread. Yellow pickled radish comes in slices, while tomato is served in pieces. A divided condiment dish holds garlic and green pepper beside dipping paste; ssamjang, gochujang and sesame oil with salt are among the condiment choices. These small servings make it easy to vary an accompaniment without ordering another platter of meat.

Premium extends the selection to LA galbi, fresh beef tongue, pork jowl, top blade and chuck flap. The tongue is sliced very thin for tabletop cooking, offering a distinct addition to the beef choices. Shrimp and baby octopus bring seafood into the higher tier as well. For diners interested in tongue, jowl or seafood, those additions are reasons to consider Premium alongside the prepared dishes already included in Base. Check item allowances when ordering; selected premium cuts carry individual caps.
