EXPERIENCE
Cicis Pizza began in Plano, Texas, in 1985, when Joe Croce and Mike Cole opened a pizza restaurant. Its enduring idea is wonderfully direct: turn pizza night into an unlimited meal, with pasta, salad and dessert alongside the pies. More than four decades later, that Texas beginning has grown into a national chain where the buffet remains the main event, even as pickup and delivery have joined the business.
At a buffet restaurant, the meal revolves around a self-service line and repeated trips from the table. Pizza comes out in shared pans, so dinner has a little motion built into it: a favorite disappears, another pie arrives, and somebody at your table suddenly remembers the cinnamon rolls. The menu’s playful streak gives the room its character. Macaroni and cheese is allowed on pizza here; nobody needs to convene a committee.
There is also a useful conversation to have with the kitchen. If the pizza you want is missing from the buffet, ask staff to make it. That invitation is part of the national buffet program, though available toppings and crusts depend on the restaurant. It gives regulars a reason to look beyond whichever pans happen to be out when they arrive. Ask early enough to let a requested pie become part of the meal.
Game rooms add a second attraction at many locations, from a modest arcade corner to larger Game Zone layouts. Their size and equipment vary, just as dining rooms, opening hours and local offers do. Check that the branch you choose serves the dine-in buffet, especially when ordering channels put carryout front and center. The familiar Cicis rhythm is pizza, conversation, another trip to the line, and perhaps a small dispute over who gets the next turn at the games.
FOOD
Cicis builds its buffet around pizza with a permissive streak: familiar red-sauce pies share space with spinach Alfredo, Buffalo chicken and macaroni and cheese. Traditional rounds, thin-crust flatbreads and deep-dish pizzas broaden the format, with the assortment changing by branch and by what is coming out of the oven. Think of the national menu as the repertoire, rather than a promise that every listed pie will occupy the line simultaneously.
Mac & Cheese deserves an early look. Macaroni and cheese covers a garlic-butter-brushed crust, with more cheese on top: the pasta course has effectively moved into the pizza pan. Spinach Alfredo takes the same garlic-butter approach to the traditional crust, then combines Alfredo sauce with fresh spinach and finishes with mozzarella. These are defining Cicis departures from tomato sauce, with the toppings doing the work.
Supreme brings red onion, green pepper and mushrooms together with pepperoni, beef and Italian sausage over marinara and mozzarella. Meat Eater trades the vegetables for a combination of pepperoni, ham, beef and Italian sausage. Both use a traditional crust brushed with garlic butter. Supreme mixes the meat toppings with vegetables; Meat Eater commits the whole slice to its name.
Buffalo Chicken combines chicken and mozzarella with a hot Buffalo-sauce drizzle on the traditional garlic-butter-brushed crust. Zesty Pepperoni makes its change underneath the cheese: Parmesan ranch sauce replaces marinara beneath mozzarella and pepperoni. Those sauce choices give the specialty lineup much of its personality. If a favorite is absent, request it; staff can tell you which ingredients and crusts are available for the buffet that day.
Away from the pizza pans, pasta comes with a choice of marinara or Alfredo, and a cold pasta-salad option extends the station. Garlic Cheesy Bread uses pan-pizza dough brushed with garlic butter, then adds cheese and Parmesan-oregano seasoning. The dough connects it directly to the pizza kitchen, with garlic and herbs taking the leading roles.
The salad bar supplies lettuce and toppings such as tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, olives and croutons, plus dressings. Chicken soup adds chicken broth, chicken, pasta and sliced vegetables to the supporting cast where offered. Exact salad ingredients and side selections can vary. These stations give the meal its pizza-night completeness without requiring the pizza counter to do every job on its own.
Dessert is included in the buffet. Mini cinnamon rolls arrive with an icing drizzle, while the fudge brownies get a dusting of powdered sugar. Dessert pizza carries the format into sweeter territory: Apple Dessert layers warmed cinnamon apple, sweet crumbs and icing onto a buttery crust. Bavarian Dessert substitutes Bavarian cream beneath its crumb topping and icing, and is specifically a participating-location offering. The final pizza pan may therefore be the dessert course.
Limited-time pizzas and seasonal sweets can supplement those enduring choices. Wings, giant pizzas and carryout value packs also appear on the broader Cicis menu, so check locally before counting an extra as unlimited buffet fare. A national promotion may depend on participating restaurants, dates or an offer-specific purchase; it is not a guarantee for every branch.
