EXPERIENCE

Cafe Mineiro brings Brazilian all-you-can-eat dining to International Drive with two complete ways to eat. The stand-alone buffet includes hot dishes, salads and three carved meats; the Brazilian Experience adds the wider tableside rodizio service. Both keep Brazilian everyday cooking alongside the barbecue. You can come for a buffet lunch or make an evening of the skewers, with the same casual steakhouse around you.

Inside, the large dining room is filled with small tables and wooden chairs, giving it a straightforward, communal character. A private room accommodates gatherings too, extending the restaurant’s family-friendly focus to group occasions. Casual dress fits this informal setting. Shorts have no explaining to do here. Cafe Mineiro suits the vacation dinner that brings everyone to the table for Brazilian cooking and barbecue.

Rodizio puts the meat servers into the conversation: skewers arrive at the table and portions are carved at your request. The base buffet has its own personal exchange at the carving window, near the hot food. A preferred doneness is something to ask about there. That contact with the carver gives the meal a human element, whether you’re choosing at the counter or enjoying the fuller service at your seat.

The restaurant also reaches beyond its unlimited meals. A separate bar menu offers Brazilian codfish cakes and sausage with onions and fried yucca, while Monday through Thursday brings à la carte entrées. Brazilian food carries through those smaller orders as well as the buffet, fitting a restaurant in Orlando’s visitor corridor that serves both lunch and dinner. Cafe Mineiro makes Brazilian cooking part of an Orlando day, whether the occasion calls for a group dinner or a drink and appetizers.

FOOD

Cafe Mineiro’s buffet combines feijoada, feijão, rice, pasta and salads with sirloin steak, sausage and chicken drumsticks carved near the hot counter. The Brazilian Experience, also called Rodizio Premium, includes that buffet and adds the fuller tableside meat service. Brazilian staples and barbecue share the meal in either case.

Feijoada deserves its own attention beside the grill. The Brazilian stew shares the buffet with feijão and rice, giving the meal two bean dishes to choose from. That familiar combination belongs as comfortably on a lunch plate as the carved beef. The sirloin doesn’t have exclusive rights to lunch.

The buffet meal has also featured oxtails, with collard greens and soup among the hot selections. On the cold side, coleslaw has joined the salads; pasta is another accompaniment. Selections vary, but these foods extend the meal beyond the carved trio, with a hot vegetable side, prepared salad and soup to explore alongside the Brazilian staples.

Sirloin is the base carving point’s beef choice, joined by grilled sausage and bone-in chicken drumsticks. Cafe Mineiro uses a Brazilian slow-roasting style, and the nearby carving window offers a place to ask about a preferred doneness. The barbecue receives its own service rather than being another pan to spoon from.

The wider meat selection has featured lamb and flank steak. For rodizio, skewers are brought to the table and requested portions are carved there. Available cuts vary; lamb and flank are useful names to ask about.

Grilled pineapple has featured in the meat meal too, giving the barbecue a sweet accompaniment. Pineapple can hold its own in this company; fruit needn’t wait politely until everyone has finished discussing the beef.

Dessert offers pudim de leite, the Brazilian flan, and mousse de maracujá, the passion-fruit mousse. Queijo de coalho, Brazilian grilling cheese, comes with honey or guava paste for another sweet choice. These desserts are ordered separately, as are drinks, cheese bread and garlic shrimp. The flan and mousse offer a Brazilian finish, while grilling cheese keeps a little of the grill in the dessert decision.
