Maharaja Palace has announced an October 26 grand opening in Urbana, Maryland, with a daily lunch buffet taking over an address that recently served its last meal as Urbana Lodge.
The new Indian restaurant and bar is at 3335 Worthington Boulevard, in the former Buffalo Wild Wings space. According to The MoCo Show, its buffet will feature more than 20 vegetarian and nonvegetarian dishes spanning South Indian, North Indian and Indo-Chinese cooking.
The restaurant’s official opening flyer lists weekday lunch at $21.99++ and Saturday and Sunday lunch at $24.99++. The flyer does not explain the additional charges represented by the two plus signs. Precise buffet service hours have not yet been confirmed.
Seven-day lunch service is the useful part for buffet regulars: the announcement gives this new spread a place on the weekday calendar as well as the weekend one. Its three culinary directions also leave room for a broader meal than a single regional label might suggest.
The restaurant’s published delivery menu offers some clues to that range, including chaat, samosas, paneer pakora, Chicken 65 and Fish Amritsari, alongside biryani, South Indian and Indo-Chinese categories. Those are examples from the wider menu; the restaurant has not published an item-by-item buffet lineup.
A familiar restaurant group changes direction
This is a new concept from Urbana Lodge’s ownership. The Lodge announced its final day for September 27, a little over a year after its summer 2025 debut. Maharaja Palace’s opening follows less than a month later.
In its original opening announcement, Urbana Lodge named owners Sanjeev Gupta and Navneet Gill and identified itself as a sister restaurant to The Creek Lodge and The Clarks Lodge. The July 2025 announcement promoted a neighborhood bar-and-restaurant menu, with ribs, tacos and weekday happy hour among the offerings.
The new direction puts Indian cooking and the lunch buffet at the center of the address’s next chapter. It also continues the group’s use of the existing restaurant space, following the earlier Buffalo Wild Wings-to-Urbana Lodge change.
The MoCo Show reports that Maharaja Palace also plans Thursday belly-dancing performances beginning in November. For the first visit, though, the date to keep is Monday, October 26. The new restaurant’s opening flyer lists 240-341-2095 for information.
