EXPERIENCE

Bricks Family Restaurant brings the LEGOLAND Hotel’s playful world to the dinner table in Winter Haven. It serves two recurring unlimited meals: a family-style breakfast and an evening buffet. The family part of the name is quite literal, especially at dinner, when children get a serving line built at their height. Small people have been considered here, right down to the reach.

The room’s window-wrapped corner is bright and informal, with colourful seating and a LEGO chef presiding over a cart stacked with model dishes. His plate-balancing responsibilities look considerable. Rounded coloured pendants hang beneath exposed dark ductwork, giving the space a playful, slightly industrial look. The chef stands right among the tables, so the LEGO company is part of the meal’s setting.

Breakfast gathers the meal around the table, with family portions and more available on request. That suits a hotel beside a theme park: there is already plenty of moving about in a LEGOLAND day. Dinner gives the family more independence. The low children’s line makes familiar foods easier to reach, while the broader buffet offers adults carving, tacos and fish. It is a thoughtful arrangement for a group whose appetites—and heights—may have very little in common.

Hotel guests have the convenience of dining where they are staying, but Bricks also welcomes people staying elsewhere. A reservation is sensible, especially during busy periods. Its character is firmly tied to this Florida resort: a meal with LEGO company, a child-conscious setup and enough grown-up dinner choices to keep the restaurant from feeling like an extended children’s menu. The primary appeal is for diners staying at LEGOLAND Hotel. An elevator ride to dinner, full days in the park and Florida sun often make the convenience an easy choice!

FOOD

Dinner at Bricks gives roast beef, carnitas and citrus salmon equal billing with the smaller family favourites. Selections can change, but herb-crusted roast beef with gravy leads the carving station. It is the straightforward roast-dinner choice here, with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables elsewhere on the hot line. A LEGO-themed hotel can still make room for a proper roast.

Braised pork carnitas is the taco filling to put high on the list. Fire-roasted shredded chicken shares that selection, with fajita vegetables, flour tortillas and assorted toppings. Together they make tacos a substantial part of dinner, rather than a small extra beside the roast. The fajita vegetables belong here too, particularly if a tortilla piled entirely with meat sounds a little single-minded.

Baked citrus salmon comes with roasted vegetables. The fish gives the dinner spread a substantial seafood choice, and the citrus preparation makes it worth considering alongside the roast and carnitas.

Sweet-and-sour tempura chicken brings battered chicken and sauce to the Asian-style selection. Vegetable fried rice and noodle stir fry share that selection, with vegetable egg rolls alongside. Chicken and noodles could easily be the main plate here. The egg rolls are the smaller choice to remember when the roast and taco meats have already claimed most of your attention.

Pasta puts the sauce and toppings in your hands. The cold selection has finished salads too: cucumber, pasta, baked potato and fresh fruit, as well as a salad you put together with assorted dressings. Cucumber is the one to remember when the hot choices start looking rather substantial. Soup of the day and assorted breads offer a quieter opening to dinner.

The children’s selection takes familiar favourites seriously. Turkey corn dogs join chicken tenders, creamy macaroni and cheese and French fries; steamed broccoli and kernel corn share the line. Macaroni and fries can become the entire plan for a small diner with firm convictions. The corn dogs give that plan some competition, while the vegetables remain within the same child-height setup. No grand speech about adventurous eating required.

Dessert is included in dinner, and the menu keeps several possibilities open: assorted cakes, freshly baked cookies, ice cream and fresh fruit. Chocolate-chip cookies are among the cookie selections to look for. Cookies and ice cream together make a cheerful finish without demanding an elaborate dessert production. Then again, cake is already there, requiring no assembly whatsoever. This is one part of a LEGO holiday where building is entirely optional.

Breakfast is a separate family-style spread of traditional hot foods. Selections can include eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes and biscuits, with French toast or waffles among the sweeter possibilities. Biscuits and gravy are worth keeping in mind. Fruit, cereal, muffins and yogurt round out the morning meal, with coffee, tea and juices included. Those familiar breakfast foods fit the table-served format: the family can ask for more while staying gathered together.
