Hometown Hot Pot & BBQ, the all-you-can-eat restaurant at 194 Grand Street in Manhattan, is listed permanently closed by The Infatuation. Its departure takes a two-floor hot-pot-and-barbecue restaurant off Chinatown’s dining map.
Hometown offered hot pot alone or a combined meal with barbecue, with unlimited meat, vegetables and other ingredients for the table. The Infatuation’s August 2024 review recommended reservations for larger groups and listed hot pot at about $38 per person, or $48 for both.
Three broths at one table
The restaurant had been serving the neighborhood for at least a decade. In a February 9, 2016 post on Christina of Chinatown, Victoria Chan described beef, lamb and vegetables arriving for a meal of hot pot and barbecue.
Her account included a three-part pot with original, spicy mala and tom yum broths, plus a sauce station and seating on the ground floor and downstairs. A divided pot gave the table some welcome flexibility: the mala fan and the tom yum fan could both get their way.
A 2018 Manhattan Community Board 2 licensing record identified the operator as Emmanuel NY Corp. and described the business as Malaysian and Southeast Asian, a background reflected in the earlier account’s tom yum broth.
Customers began asking about the restaurant’s closure in early May 2026, reporting closed doors and trouble reaching its listed phone number. The Infatuation now marks it permanently closed, though the listing does not give a final service date or a reason.
For diners who knew Hometown, the loss is a particular combination: barbecue and a divided soup pot at the same table, with a long evening of unlimited ordering ahead.
