Dragon Buffet has closed after 26 years in Medina, Ohio, ending a Chinese buffet that had become a regular stop for local families. Its North Court Street property is slated for a Meijer Express gas station and convenience store.
The Medina Gazette reported the closure. The redevelopment concerns 1201 N. Court Street, where Dragon Buffet occupied a building on approximately 1.45 acres.
The restaurant’s place in the neighborhood was evident before the closing. In Cleveland 19’s October 2025 coverage of the redevelopment dispute, customer Toni Savick described eating there with her son since he was a child and said she wanted it to stay.
The owner had hoped to remain
Co-owner and general manager Xiaolong, also known as George Wang told the station that the restaurant had been in that building for 16 years. At the time, he said three years remained on its lease, with a further five-year option, and he was reassuring customers that the buffet was not going anywhere.
The city’s redevelopment plans called for the existing building to be demolished and replaced by a roughly 3,654-square-foot convenience store with fuel service. During an October 2025 council discussion, city officials said the restaurant’s lease needed to be honored and raised relocation assistance as a possibility.
A new location for Dragon Buffet has not been announced.
