The Ranch in Starkville, Mississippi, has added a Sunday brunch buffet with buttermilk biscuits and pepper gravy at one end of the menu and roasted pork shoulder at the other.
Announced September 6, the buffet runs 10:30 a.m.–2 p.m. Sundays at 1044 W. Poor House Road. Adults pay $29, including coffee, tea, water and lemonade.
The restaurant is the next project from Roy Oswalt and chef Jeff Thornsberry, the partners behind 44 Prime. Their South Jackson Street steakhouse closed in May after about five years; The Ranch opened in July in a newly built, approximately 6,000-square-foot restaurant near the Mississippi Horse Park.
Members of the 44 Prime staff also made the move, according to local coverage. The new restaurant takes a broader Southern and American approach, and its brunch buffet puts plenty of that Southern cooking on the Sunday table.
Biscuits, collards and lemon butter cake bars
The brunch menu includes eggs, bacon, sausage, breakfast potatoes, grits and pancakes alongside the biscuits and gravy. A daily omelet comes from the kitchen.
Fried chicken tenders, barbecue-roasted chicken leg quarters and pork shoulder bring lunch into the picture. Macaroni and cheese, collard greens and Parmesan broccoli casserole accompany them, with salads and fruit also available.
Chocolate cake, cookies and lemon butter cake bars finish the brunch menu.
Seniors are listed at $19 and children 12 and younger at $14. A 15 percent gratuity is added to all parties, tables have a 90-minute limit, and the buffet is dine-in only, without to-go containers.
