BD’s Mongolian Grill Clarifies How Its Unlimited Bowl Option Works

Participating restaurants let dine-in guests rebuild the bowl as many times as they like, but nothing unlimited goes home.

September 25, 2026 • National • BY BUFFET AUTHORITY

BD’s Mongolian Grill has published a fresh explanation of its Unlimited dining option, spelling out a format that can be easy to misunderstand if the restaurant is approached like a conventional single-bowl stir-fry concept. At participating locations, Unlimited guests may return to the fresh market bar and build as many bowls as they want during the dine-in meal.

Each return trip can be different. Diners select proteins, vegetables and sauces, then hand the bowl over for cooking on the restaurant’s large grill. The next trip can be rebuilt from scratch rather than repeated exactly, which effectively turns the market bar into a customizable all-you-can-eat system rather than a fixed buffet line.

Unlimited Means Repeated Trips to the Fresh Market Bar

The company’s Sept. 24 explainer also draws a boundary around the word unlimited: the offer is for dine-in consumption, and guests cannot build an extra bowl to take home. Single-bowl options remain available, as do weekday lunch offers at participating restaurants.

Pricing is not uniform across the chain. BD’s says both participation and price vary by location, so there is no single national Unlimited figure to attach to the format. That variability is important for diners comparing locations and also keeps the current announcement in the category of clarification rather than a newly launched national promotion.

Pricing and Participation Still Depend on the Restaurant

The model is one of the older forms of interactive abundance dining in the U.S. restaurant landscape. The diner does the composing, the grill cooks it, and the loop can start over. The new explanation does not reinvent BD’s, but it usefully makes explicit what the restaurant means when it says Unlimited.

For Buffet Authority purposes, that is worth documenting: AYCE does not always require trays of finished food. Sometimes the buffet is a refrigerator wall, a bowl and permission to begin again.
