Jalsa Indian Kitchen in Somerdale, New Jersey, has added its first recurring weekend lunch buffet, giving the two-year-old restaurant a second way to dine without abandoning its large à-la-carte menu. The buffet runs Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 711 Evesham Road.
Current pricing is $19.99 for adults, $12 for children ages 5 through 10 and free for children 4 and younger. Jalsa’s current promotion explicitly says there is no automatic service fee and asks diners to tip the staff. Reservations are recommended, though walk-ins are accepted.
Jalsa Adds a Recurring Buffet Without Dropping Its Regular Menu
That makes this more than a one-weekend promotion. Jalsa opened as an à-la-carte Indian restaurant and is now adding a standing buffet program while keeping its regular menu available during the same service period. The buffet is advertised as continuing every Saturday and Sunday until further notice.
The rotating lineup is built around both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes, with curries, biryani, chaat, fresh naan and breads, and desserts among the categories advertised. A recent South Jersey Food Scene visit counted about 12 savory options and two desserts, with complimentary butter or garlic naan and optional premium upgrades.
What the $19.99 Weekend Buffet Includes
The format is especially well suited to a restaurant with Jalsa’s range. Indian buffets have always doubled as both lunch and introduction: a plate can hold a spoonful of something familiar, a spoonful of something new and, if the experiment works, a much larger second helping.
Jalsa’s current wording is worth noting because an earlier version of the promotion showed an 18% service charge. The live page was later updated to state “NO SERVICE FEE,” so that is the policy Buffet Authority would use unless the restaurant announces another change.
For Somerdale diners, the result is straightforward: Jalsa has moved from occasional abundance to a scheduled weekly buffet, with three hours each Saturday and Sunday to work through the rotating spread one return trip at a time.
