Cracker Barrel is stepping into the all-you-can-eat business for one day. On Saturday, Sept. 26, the country-store restaurant chain will celebrate National Pancake Day with $5 all-you-can-eat buttermilk pancakes, available all day.
That makes the promotion an easy addition to Buffet Authority’s calendar: for one Saturday, a restaurant better known for rocking chairs, biscuits and all-day breakfast will join the AYCE ranks with unlimited stacks at the center of the table.
The promotion fits a long-running part of the Cracker Barrel identity. Dan Evins opened the first Cracker Barrel Old Country Store in Lebanon, Tennessee, in 1969, originally envisioning a dependable roadside stop for travelers on the country’s expanding interstate system. The restaurant-and-country-store format grew into a national chain that today counts nearly 660 locations. Breakfast has remained a defining part of the menu, with Cracker Barrel continuing to serve it throughout the day.
Pancakes have been along for much of that ride. In announcing the 2026 promotion, Cracker Barrel described its buttermilk pancakes as scratch-made, with the crisp edges and fluffy centers that have become part of the chain’s breakfast shorthand. The company has gone so far as to call National Pancake Day its “favorite food holiday.”
This is also a return engagement. Cracker Barrel offered a $5 all-you-can-eat pancake promotion for National Pancake Day in 2025. That version was dine-in only and began with three buttermilk pancakes with butter and syrup, followed by two-pancake refills; Rewards members were able to start a day early. Cracker Barrel has not announced additional operating details for the 2026 edition beyond this year’s $5 unlimited-pancake offer.
For a chain built around generous portions and breakfast at any hour, the move into unlimited pancakes does not feel entirely foreign. It is simply a much more literal interpretation of abundance — and, for one day, enough to earn Cracker Barrel a temporary place in the all-you-can-eat universe.
