Golden Corral has permanently closed its longtime Boise restaurant after roughly 25 years in operation, leaving the chain with just one Idaho location. Local reporting first documented the closure at the beginning of September, and no reason for the shutdown has been publicly given. Golden Corral’s current location directory now lists only Nampa in the state.
The remaining Idaho Golden Corral is in Nampa. A notice posted at the Boise restaurant directed customers there and offered $5 off a purchase for guests who showed a photo of the Boise closure notice. No formal terms, expiration date or duration for that offer were identified in public information, so it is unclear whether the discount is still being honored.
The Boise restaurant opened around 2001. Contemporary reporting cited by the Idaho Statesman indicates that Nampa followed after Boise’s early success, giving the surviving Idaho location a direct connection to the restaurant that has now closed.
The Boise closing also follows the August 2024 shutdown of Golden Corral in Twin Falls. That closure had left Boise and Nampa as the company’s two remaining Idaho restaurants; Boise’s departure reduces the state footprint to one.
The Idaho contraction comes while Golden Corral is still adding restaurants elsewhere. In April, the company announced six locations in development across Tennessee, Florida, Texas, Alabama and Puerto Rico, using a mix of new construction and conversion projects. Among them is a documented ground-up restaurant planned for Baytown, Texas.
For Boise-area Golden Corral regulars, the practical result is straightforward: the buffet on Emerald Street is gone, and Nampa is now the nearest remaining Idaho outpost. Golden Corral has not publicly announced a replacement Boise restaurant.
